Yabu: House of Katsu

If you're an avid follower of the food blogosphere, then surely you've heard of Yabu: House of Katsu.

Late Night Snack at Larcy's Cupcakery Cafe

I found myself pleasantly surprised with Larcy's Cupcakery Cafe. Located at 178 Aguirre Street, BF Homes, Paranaque City, it's an increasingly familiar name for the sweet tooths out there.

Another Fave of Mine: King One Rotary Hot Pot

King One Rotary Hot Pot is an eat-all-you-can shabu-shabu restaurant located in Hobbies of Asia, Macapagal Blvd, Pasay. It's a few minutes away from Mall of Asia. It's one of my guilty pleasures, because seriously, who can't help but pig out at a place like this? When you sit down, they'll hand you some sheets of paper with what they offer. For the hot pot's broth, you have several options. These are some of the ones we've tasted: Curry, Szechuan, and Satay. As a note, the eat-all-you-can price for lunch is P479, and for dinner it's P529.

I Love Flaming Wings!

Flaming Wings is the sister company of Gravy Fix. They serve American dishes such as buffalo chicken, pasta, sandwiches, and excellent desserts (wicked oreos!). Actually, along with Buffalo's Wings n' Things and Wingman, this is one of my favorite places to go to for buffalo chicken. For the sauce, they have Mild n' Sweet, Wild, Smokey BBQ, and Original.

I usually order the Tenders meal. It's just like buffalo wings, minus the hassle of the bones. Heheh. What I love about Flaming Wings is that they are generous with the sauce, unlike some buffalo chicken restaurants that serve "kind of" dry buffalo chicken (and, to add to that, their sauce may be lacking in taste at times).

Buffalo's Wings n' Things

You know, I could have sworn I've posted this before... but apparently it was in my drafts. If by some mistake I'm posting this the second time around, and I'm not sure how that happened, please forgive me!

Marcus and I were driving around BF Homes the other day, looking for somewhere "new" to eat. While I bet Buffalo's Wings N' Things is a familiar sight to most people from BF (everyone seemed to be regulars), it was the first time either of us had seen it. We took a gamble... and I'm glad we did. The place offers buffalo wings in three servings: 1/2 pound - P129, 1 pound - P254, and Triple Sampler - P379.

Vday's at John Bamboo

For Valentine's, we took a trip to Solenad, Nuvali and decided to eat at John Bamboo -- a Sate House by Red Crab. According to Wikipedia, sate is a "dish of marinated, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce". I don't remember the last time I've eaten Indonesian food, so I was pretty excited because it was something "new". Anyway, we were given crackers as appetizers. The crackers itself was nothing special (though I doubt crackers can actually get any special), but the sauce was pretty good!

Okiniiri, Japanese Restaurant and Izakaya

Marcus and I were driving along Aguirre in BF Homes looking for a place to eat when we spotted Okiniiri. Since we wanted an affordable place, Marcus made me go down the car and check the prices first. :P Honestly, the place looked quite expensive... but to my surprise, the prices were affordable! I guess looks can really be deceiving, huh? It was a good thing he made me check first rather than just driving past by.

FREE GELATO from Stickhouse!

Ciao from Stickhouse Philippines

Stickhouse, a franchise from Italy selling Authentic Italian Gelato on a Stick, has been in the Philippines since 2009. Currently, we already have 5 Stickhouse kiosks located at Trinoma (3), SM Megamall (1) and at Eastwood (1). Stickhouse takes pride in being the first in the Philippines to offer Italian gelato on a stick.

While I have never been to Stickhouse, I've seen nothing but good reviews from other blogs. Here are some posts from The Purple Doll and Frannywanny. Hurry and like the page now! ;) I want to win some gelato as well!

Dinner at New Bombay

New Bombay is one of those places I've heard of since who-knows-when but never really bothered to try out. First of all, Indian cuisine is something I'm not really familiar with. I honestly know nothing about their food, but the other week, Marcus and I decided to try New Bombay just for the heck of it. As a note, I'm not listing down prices because after some research, I found out that the prices differ according to branch. :)

One think I do know about Indian Cuisine is that they like spices. When ordering dishes, the waiter would ask us how spicy we wanted it, and "Indian Spicy" (haha) was one of the choices. Basically, he described as it being the spiciest level of them all.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

One lonely day, I was bored and had nothing to do. I decided to scavenge our house to see if I had enough stuff to bake some chocolate chip cookies. I did a search on google and found this recipe called Best Big, Fat, Chew Chocolate Chip Cookies. It had high ratings and a lot of good reviews, so... there. I tried it out. The recipe made exactly a dozen cookies.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Anyway, it's a good recipe. My favorite choco chip cookie recipe so far! My only complaint? The cookies turned out kind of greasy... maybe less butter should be used, or maybe I made a mistake in measuring?

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
