P.F. Chang's China Bistro is a restaurant which caught the blogosphere's attention when it opened its first Philippine branch last year. The first branch opened in Alabang Town Center. Around the restaurant's proximity are large statues of soldiers and horses from ancient China. The place itself is large and spacious. On its first few weeks it was incredibly hard to get a seat too, so you can see how someone would be excited to dine here if they haven't had the experience yet.
For starters, we went for the Sichuan Shrimp. It cost a whooping 595 pesos. It was a spicy dish and I couldn't get enough of it. The order is good enough for 1-2 people if you're eating rice with it.. Of everything we ordered, this was the dish that I liked the most.
We also ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari, which cost 385 pesos. Truth be told, I thought it was lacking taste and turned out bland. I like the presentation, though. It's not usual that you find 'stick' calamari.
This is called P.F. Chang's Fried Rice, which costs 200 pesos. It's your normal Chinese fried rice with a myriad of vegetables. It was good but nothing spectacular.
In each table, there are bottles and small dishes of different kinds of sauce. The wait staff will usually mix up a 'special sauce' for you before the food arrives. It will have a unique taste and I found it fun to experiment with it and see which food went well with it. If you'd like to mix up your own kind of sauce as well, then you then you're free to do so and will have many options to choose from.
Verdict
The place was pricey, but that was to be expected since they don't advertise themselves as your regular run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. However, I still think the food should have been spectacular for that kind of pricing. The wait staff were very accommodating and they were obviously trained well (during the first few weeks/months, staff from the US were working alongside them and training them). All in all, it was a good experience.

Hope they'll open a branch somewhere in the north so I could visit. :)

Haven't tried it. I think open na sila sa BGC.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try P.F. Chang's but both their BGC and Alabang branch are quite far from my place. Anyway, I'll make sure to order the Sichuan Shrimp when I visit :)
