A Bunch of Photos from Omakase

As I mentioned in a previous post, Omakase will always be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. I can never get enough of their makimono/sushi. This post is a collection of photos from multiple visits to Omakase. As can be seen from this post... I really am very much obsessed with sushi.

First up is the SAR platter. This is a platter of (clockwise, starting from the one on the bottom left) Salmon Skin, American dream,  and Rock n' Roll maki. We didn't enjoy the salmon skin roll, though the other two were pretty good.

The following is the BDR roll. It includes the Boston Roll (lower left), Dynamite Roll (center), and Rising Sun. The Boston roll had bacon in it, which is something I never tried before in a roll. Fortunately, the unique experience turned out well. Also, since Dynamite Roll is my favorite, I had no complains about that one. And while I don't enjoy fruits (call me weird) in my sushi, I thought the Rising Sun was alright.

More pictures of Rising Sun from another order, without mangoes this time. And, yes, I enjoyed it more without the mangoes.

This is the Zigzag roll, which is my new favorite. It has soft-shelled crab and tempura bits. Absolutely delicious. My friend thought it was nakakaumay, and I agreed -- but that didn't stop me, I just kept taking more and more of it.

Now, for a dish that isn't makimono/sushi. Oyster Butteryaki. This is also one of my favorites, and it comes with a sour sauce (not really sure what it is) which gives the oysters even more taste.

Verdict

Taste - 5/5
Ambiance - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Price - 5/5
Overall Value - 5/5

  1. Looks delicious! I just find it a little messy compared to the traditional Japanese sushi.

  3. Authentic Japanese roll and sushi are not that kind... It is more on the simple content that will benefit the human body form oily and toxic content of the food. It is why most of the authentic Japanese restaurant prefers to serve its traditional way of cooking and serving its kind of menu for us to be used to and be more familiar in a healthy way of consuming the right balance of food. Though we respect different people's preference of taste and menu, we on the side of its original, would go for the healthy menu that would benefit not only our taste buds but also our body.

  4. Yes, looks can be deceiving... Check the content inside and make sure it's fresh and new before consuming. Most of the rolls (or fusion sushi and maki) were made from scrap, combined with different ingredients to make it tasty and looks attractive, but beware... you can get bacteria and salmonella from those, specially if it was stocked for a long time. Go for healthy diet... Yet you can still find well plated Japanese food with its true quality. Be smart! Know the facts about the Japanese food so other people will also benefit from your blogs. For that, people like me will certify you... A True food critic! "GOCHISOU SAMA DESHITA!"

  5. I just want to clarify that I never said that the makimono from Omakase is authentic. I know what authentic/traditional Japanese food is. :) I also know that it is safe to say that we won't get salmonella from this restaurant. And not to sound rude, but if you say something like "For that, people like me will certify you... A True food critic!", you might as well introduce yourself to certify your own comment. Hehe.
