Kimpura - watching as your food is cooked

Kimpura is a Japanese restaurant located in Greenbelt 5, Makati, right next to Peking Garden. It also has branches in Greenhills and Trinoma. When eating here, you have the option of dining around a grill while a chef cooks your food in front of you. It's more commonly known as Teppanyaki. The first time we dined here, that one episode in How I Met Your Mother entered my mind -- the one where Barney ridicules Teppanyaki restaurants.

It's quite interesting to dine in Kimpura because of the fact that you can watch while your food is being cooked. You don't get impatient while waiting because it's entertaining to watch the chef!

Aside from the food that we ordered for the Teppanyaki grill, we also ordered some sashimi (or raw fish). We ordered salmon and tuna sashimi. The fish was fresh and succulent, which is to be expected from a restaurant like this one.

You are given different sauces for the food. The waiter will tell you which one is for which. If I remember correctly, there were different sauces for seafood, chicken, and pork.

The followings pics are the food we ordered for the grill. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to list down the exact names of the sets we took. Everything we had seemed good, though the favorites were the beef and the scallops. As a note, aside from everything else, another treat that you will get is the aroma of the food while it's being cooked!

The set that we ordered came with four servings of dessert. I loved the ice cream!

Verdict
Aside from the good food, it's enjoyable to eat here. The place is clean and the service is excellent. It's on the pricey side (perhaps around 600-700 per head), but you get what you pay for.

Taste - 5/5
Ambiance - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Price - 4/5
Overall Value - 5/5
